READING BUDDIES

Do you have 30 minutes a week to help a child improve their reading abilities?   The PTA’s Reading Buddies program is in need of volunteers.  No experience necessary!  You will be matched with a child and will spend 30 minutes a week  encouraging and listening to them read.  Teachers will provide the materials.
Please contact Reading Buddies chair, Stephanie Thomas at: stephaniewbush@hotmail.com to volunteer or for more information.
Thank you for volunteering!

Notes from the Principal

Welcome to the 2016-17 school year!

We had a great start to the school year thanks to our students, staff and parent volunteers. In talking with families as we all returned, it was very nice to hear all the wonderful adventures our students experienced. Everyone seems rested and ready to go back to work!

I want to give a big THANK YOU to our staff for all their efforts to start off this year in a smooth, efficient way. Teachers have worked hard getting their rooms organized and ready for our students. Office and custodial staff have also worked extra hard in getting the school clean and ready for a great school year.

I would also like to say THANK YOU to all our families for the never ending support you give us. You make such a difference in our ability to succeed at Mabry and continue to be an "A" rated school. We appreciate all the volunteer hours and the support you give us each and every year.

Finally, I would like to send a big THANK YOU to Ms. Hajner (our beautification chair), the Chiellini family for donating 500 bags of mulch, and the families who came out for our "Annual Beautification Day." I hope everyone has had a chance to look around the school at the fresh landscape.

As I begin my sixth year as principal of Mabry Elementary, I look forward to working collaboratively with all stakeholders.

Sherri Frick, Principal

Are You Still Packing Lunch?

Did you know our school meal program operates a healthy, innovative, and cost-effective school meal program that is nationally regarded as one of the best in the country?

On a daily basis students are offered a range of whole grains, lean proteins, fruits, vegetables, and low-fat dairy. Our meals feature fresh, locally sourced items such as tomatoes, cucumbers, strawberries, blueberries and green beans! The best part - breakfast is free and lunch is only $2.25, though your children may be eligible for free lunch depending on your household income.  To learn more about the school meal program, download the Nutrislice App, and access MyPayments Plus you can click here and go to the Mabry PTA website.

Today's school meals aren't what they used to be. Encourage your children to try them today and put the packing behind you!

Ready for back to school?  Want to see a familiar face?

Give Mabry two to four hours of your time as we prepare our school for new and returning families alike. Our teachers could use a few extra hands to help prepare classrooms.

Stop by school Friday August 5th from 10am-1pm.

Your time will be well spent making copies, cutting out names, helping with all the final touches. Check in to the Main Office.

We also need volunteers Saturday August 6th from 9am to 12pm for Beautification Day. Come prepared to give a little sweat equity as we spread mulch and prepare to welcome all the kids back.

Parents and Teachers and working together is what helps makes our Association and school A+++.
