General PTA Membership Meeting
We are excited to be Back in School! We hope everyone is adjusting to new classes, new teachers and new friends!
Come to our 1st General Membership Meeting this Thursday August 25th at 6pm. Arrive early so you don't wait in line to check in and pick out your child's Spirit Stick for your attendance!
The meeting is a great way to connect with other parents, hear the latest information on school programs and have your kids connect with their classmates. You don't want to miss this first meeting as we approve our budget for the year and will answer any final questions for our online After-School Enrichment enrollment that opens at 9pm after the meeting!
Bringing the kids?
Childcare will be provided for school aged children during the meeting. Please sign up to reserve a spot and arrive by 5:45pm to participate in the planned activity.

After-School Enrichment (ASE)

Class Length: Sept. 12 - Dec. 12
CLASSES WILL BE FILLED ON A FIRST RECEIVED BASIS - ONLINE ENROLLMENT ONLY. Enrollment is completed by child, so you must enroll each child one at a time on the registration website
REGISTRATION BEGINS: Thursday, Aug. 25 at 9pm ENDS: Thursday, Sept. 1 at 3pm

Hello Mabry Dads
Please join the Mabry Dad's Club e-mail list by sending an e-mail to Nelson Bosque at [email protected]. You will be the first to know about upcoming Dad's Club functions and about events geared to enrich the involvement of Dad's at school.
Please mark your calendar for Thursday, Sept. 1st from 7:15 am to 7:45 am for Donuts with Dad in the cafeteria. This is a free event for Dad's and students. Coffee and donuts provided.
Save Your Sneakers!
Donation of USED sneakers begins on Monday, August 22nd. The Mabry PTA is partnering with the GotSneakers organization.
GotSneakers provides an opportunity to recycle your USED sneakers (all sizes welcome) and make a DIFFERENCE in the world! The collection dates are from Monday, August 22 - September 30th. Look for the GotSneakers GREEN boxes at the following school locations:
- outside the front office
- back of school
- media center
- 5th grade hallway

National PTA Art Contest
Reflections is an annual, national art contest held by the PTA. Students can make submissions in the areas of: Dance Choreography, Film Production, Literature, Music Composition, Photography, or Visual Arts. Each submission should reflect this year's theme, "What Is Your Story?" Reflections is to all age levels at Mabry.
In the past few years Mabry has had students win at the state level in the area of Film Production. Deadline for projects is October 14th, 2016. Here is this year's flyer: Reflection 2016

Reading Buddies
Do you have 30 minutes a week to help a child improve their reading abilities?
The PTA's Reading Buddies program is in need of volunteers. No experience necessary! You will be matched with a child and will spend 30 minutes a week encouraging and listening to them read. Teachers will provide the materials.

Ready for back to school?
Give Mabry two to four hours of your time as we prepare our school for new and returning families alike. Our teachers could use a few extra hands to help prepare classrooms. Stop by school Friday August 5th from 10am-1pm. Your time will be well spent making copies, cutting out names, helping with all the final touches. Check in to the Main Office.
We also need volunteers Saturday August 6th from 9am to 12pm for Beautification Day. Come prepared to give a little sweat equity as we spread mulch and prepare to welcome all the kids back.
Parents and Teachers and working together is what helps makes our Association and school A+.

Popsicles in the Park!
The Mabry Elementary PTA invites incoming Kindergarten & new Mabry students and their families to Friendship Park to enjoy popsicles while meeting new classmates!

Reminder! First Day of School is Wednesday, August 10th. This is a full day of school so plan accordingly.
Edukits Pick Up
For those who ordered Edukit school supplies and did not pay extra for classroom delivery, your supply kits need to be picked up in the cafeteria on Tuesday, August 9th between 9:00 am - 12:30 pm. If you paid extra for classroom delivery your kits (AGP included) will be in your child's homeroom class. Email Peggy Walker for any questions [email protected].
Mabry's PTA- run spirit store, Dolphin Depot, has all of the latest school spirit merchandise! We are the exclusive retailer of Mabry's Friday/Field Trip shirt. Our spirit store will be open at the New Families Popsicle Party and at the Mabry cafeteria during Meet The Teacher on Tuesday, August 9th.
Along with the spirit shirts, we will be offering: embroidered polo shirts for both boys and girls, dri-fit embroidered shirts for boys, hoodies, car magnets, hair accessories, pencils, erasers, Mabry Mom and Mabry Dad shirts....just to name a few!
The Dolphin Depot accepts cash, checks (made out to Mabry PTA) and credit cards.
Florida's Tax Free Holiday is August 5 - 7, 2016.
Qualifying purchases include:
- Clothing, shoes, and accessories ($100 or less per item)
- Back-to-school supplies ($15 or less per item)
- Computers and computer accessories (tax savings applies to the first $750 of the sales price-only when purchased for personal/non-commercial use)
The Florida tax free weekend/week savings does not apply to clothing sold for more than $100 per item; school supplies sold for more than $15 per item; books (although many are already exempt). Other exceptions and exclusions may apply.
