Mabry Mentor Program

September 3, 2020

Hello Mabry Families!

Welcome to Mabry Elementary! We have started a new program for Mabry families that were new to Mabry either last school year (2019-2020) or this school year (2020-2021). We know we had such an unusual end to our year last year, as well as beginning to this new school year and we would like to offer a helping hand.

Please add your name, teacher and/or contact information here if you would like to be matched with an older, returning Mabry family. Once you sign up, another Mabry parent will reach out to walk you through what to expect, how to get linked in to PTA and school communications and generally help answer any questions you might have or connect you with the Mabry staff person who can.

If you are an experienced Mabry family interested in helping familiarize a new family, please sign up here.
Thanks for your support with our first BTS Spirit Week at Yogurtology! Next up for October is Tampa Pizza Company!

Stop by Tuesday 10/6- Thursday 10/8 at the Henderson location
(4110 Henderson Blvd)

Please remember to mention Mabry at checkout to earn 20% back to our school!
Just a reminder that:
  • Spirit Night is now Spirit Week:
    • All will be more than 1 night to allow more flexibility for families to come and go at a time and day that works best for you
  • First week of the month:
    • To keep it simple, Spirit Weeks will now be held during the first week of each month
  • Take-out highly encouraged:
    • As always, proper social distancing, mask-wearing while grabbing on the go is highly encouraged.

Welcome to the 2020-2021 school year at Mabry Elementary!

The Mabry Elementary PTA committees and many volunteers have worked hard throughout the summer to prepare for an amazing year.

As a new or returning parent, I knowyou are busy with your child’s transition to the start of school. The Mabry PTA strives to provide many avenues for members to learn about events, volunteer as needed, and discuss key items critical to the success of the school, staff, teachers and students.

This year, we will be doing all membership and volunteer sign-ups through our online PTA software, Membership Toolkit.  To register as a PTA member and explore volunteer opportunities, please visit https://mabrypta.membershiptoolkit.com/home. Click here for details on how to sign up.  Also, download the app for easy access to PTA information from your phone.

PTA General Membership Meetings (GMM) are held three times per year in the evening. This year at least two meetings will be held virtually. At these meetings important agenda items are discussed such as school news, guest speakers, educator and staff’s discussions, and budget review. Important items will be voted on by the members in attendance.  The first meeting will be in early September and your attendance is welcome.

Finally, we want to stay connected with you.  Be sure to sign up to receive our weekly PTA newsletter, the Mabry Minute, and like our Facebook page.  If you'd like to opt out of having photos of your child shared on our Facebook page, please complete this form and email it to [email protected].

Please take the time to review this information, register for necessary communication tools, and join the Mabry PTA.

If you have any questions, please go to the PTA website, mabrypta.org or email [email protected] for specific questions.

Thank you,

Arianne Corbett

Welcome to the 2020-2021 School Year

Dear Parents,

We are pleased to welcome your child to Mabry Elementary School for the 2020-2021 school year. The first day of school will be Monday, August 24, 2020. The first day of brick & mortar is Monday, August 31, 2020. Important...the first day of brick and mortar is an Early Release day (7:40 a.m. - 12:55 p.m.). Monday dismissal is one hour early at 12:55.

By now you should have received a postcard in the mail with instructions to find your child's class placement.  The teacher assignment code is located in the last 3 digits of the numeric code on the postcard mailing label.  Match that code to the numeric code of the teacher in your child's grade.

Please take some time to fill out the first day packet for each of your students.  Teachers will be providing more specific information on how to turn these in.

It will not be necessary for you to come to register your child in person if you have not already done so. There will be a packet of materials that you can access online. The registration process will be complete when all papers are completed and returned to school.
If your child is eligible for bus transportation, please have your child at the bus stop at least ten minutes before the time indicated. Bus stop information can be found here. Select "FIND MY BUS STOP"

Students are asked to learn their 7 digit ID number located on the front address label so they can use this number when going through the lunch line.

Grade level classroom supply lists are located here

Teachers will be contacting parents via email to share Meet the Teacher presentations and introductions.

If your brick and mortar student has a medication that needs to be administered during the school day by our school nurse, please stop by between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. Monday through Thursday of next week (8/24-8/27) to drop off.

Our school has a mandatory uniform policy for all students. The uniform consists of the following:

1) Solid white, red, or navy top with a collar (knit pullover shirt, regular button-up shirt or turtleneck shirt).
2) Solid navy or khaki bottom (shorts, long pants, skirt or jumper).
3) No athletic shorts, jeans, or items with sports logo. Shorts must be long enough to extend down to the child's fingertips when standing upright.
4) Spirit shirts may be worn on Fridays or special designated days (i.e. field trips). 5) Leggings are permitted in school colors only. More information explaining the uniform policy will be included in the student's first day packet.
Be sure to check out our Mabry website and the Mabry PTA website for new information and ways to get involved!
Dear Mabry Parents:

Welcome to the 2020-21 school year!  This is not how I expected to start my 28th year of education and 13th year being a principal, but here are!  We are currently adjusting our class placements based on the student intent survey.  This is an arduous process, so please be patient.   We'll let you know your teacher assignment as soon as we can.

Some of the new safety procedures we are putting in place will involve arrival and dismissal, the lunchroom, hallways, media center, recess, restrooms, and sign-in and sign-out.  At this time, all volunteers will be on hold until further notice.

We will be hosting a virtual Meet the Teacher/Open House prior to the first day of school.  Once that date has been confirmed, your child's homeroom teacher will be in touch with you regarding the date and time, and how to access the open house.  At the next school board meeting on August 6th, final decisions will be made regarding the return to brick and mortar, or e-learning for the first nine weeks.  Stay tuned.

We'll be sending out our first-day packets electronically this year.  A link to access these documents will be noted on your teacher assignment postcard.

This is a new process for all of us. We appreciate your patience, understanding, and flexibility as we get ready for another year of learning!

Sherri Frick
Principal
Attention Mabry parents:  Please take the time to submit your declaration of intent for the return to school for the 2020-2021 School Year.  You will need your student's school ID and district password.  Please submit a separate declaration of intent for EACH student in your household.
